Shena Aggrawal ....... 1st Rank in CBSE & PMT
Mohit Kr Arora .... 2nd Rank CBSE PMT

Q. ETG(EduSys) : Why did you choose Medical/Bio stream?
Shena : My father is a doctor so I have seen this profession from very close. This developed my interest and likings for medical stream.
Mohit : I wanted to serve the people.

Q. ETG(EduSys) : What exams you appeared for and your status/rank in them?
Shena : I sat for following exams
CBSE-PMT (M) – 1st Rank (147.5/200)
CBSE-PMT (P) – 502/600
AFMC – Cleared written
AIIMS, AIEEE – result awaited*.
Mohit : I sat for
CBSE-PMT (M) – 2nd Rank, (133/200)
CBSE-PMT (P) – 492/600
Delhi PMT – 9th Rank (667/800)
(Marks of DPMT Topper 703/800)
AIIMS – result awaited.

Q. ETG(EduSys) : Any other achievements?
Shena : I am an NTSE scholar.
Mohit : I have cleared NSEB and NSEC exams.

Q. ETG(EduSys) : How did you prepare for the examination?
(a) Hours put in (approximately per day).
(b) On which topic and chapters you laid more stress in each subject.
(c) How much time does one require for serious preparation for this exam?
(d) Any extra coaching?
(e) Which subjects/topics you were strong/weak at?
Shena : (a) On an average 6-7 hours in both school days and holidays.
(b) I laid more stress on Ecology, Genetics, Application of Biology, and Physiology in Biology, Physical and Organic portion in chemistry. I read all chapters in Physics uniformly.
(c) 2 years of serious study is more than enough.
(d) I did not join any coaching institute but had enrolled for a good correspondence course which had good study material and focused on regular testing.
(e) I was weak in Heat and Thermodynamics in Physics, Inorganic part in Chemistry. I didn’t find any topic tough in Biology.
Mohit : (a) 6-8 hours in regular days and 10-12 hours in holidays.
(b) In Biology I laid more stress on Application of Biology and Genetics. In Physics, on optics and in Chemistry, the organic part.
(c) 2 years are sufficient for the preparation.
(d) I enrolled for correspondence course and in final days I joined test and discussion classes.
(e) I was weak in Animal Kingdom in Biology. Organic and Inorganic part in Chemistry, Optics (which I think is most important and most difficult) in Physics. Regular testing, both at home and in classroom helped me get over my difficulties. Also I prepared my own notes which I used for revision.

Q. ETG(EduSys) : In your words what are the components of an ideal preparation plan?
Shena : Proper time management, continuous effort and hard work make your study plan effective. I believe that quality of work is more important than the quantity.
Mohit : Regular and planned study is the key component of an ideal preparation. Assess your knowledge and find out which topic you are weak at and which topic you are strong, then study accordingly by giving more attention to the weak topics.

Q. ETG(EduSys) : What role did the following play in your success :
(a) parents (b) teachers (c) school.
Shena : My parents are very nice and were the source of constant support to me during the preparation time. Teachers helped me by solving my problems whenever I needed their help.
Mohit : Parents played a great role in my success, especially my father who supported me very much when I felt depressed. [When I was not allowed admission in Medical College in Delhi even though I secured 16th rank in DPMT 2003, due to underage (below 17 yrs)].
Teachers at school were very good and helpful. They helped me to clear my concepts.

Q. ETG(EduSys) : Your family background?
Shena : My father is a dentist. My mother is a housewife and my younger brother is studying in class 8th.
Mohit : My father is a bank employee and my mother is a government teacher.

Q. ETG(EduSys) : What mistake you think you shouldn’t have made?
Shena : I think I should practised more MCQ’s in class XI.
Mohit : I have done silly mistakes. Hence due to poor concentration I lost marks in Chemistry and secured 9th rank in DPMT. I removed this weakness by sitting at home and solving model test papers in exam like condition. In this regard I would like to say that solve and send test series of ETG(EduSys) published in Exams Today helped me a lot.

Q. ETG(EduSys): Was this your first attempt?
Shena : Yes.
Mohit : No! Second attempt . Last year I has cleared DPMT with 16th Rank but due to underage (<17 year) I was not allowed to take admission.

Q. ETG(EduSys) : What do you think was the secret of your success?
Shena : Hardwork, confidence, strong determination, single minded approach and finally the blessings of parents and God.
Mohit : Hardwork and God’s help.

Q. ETG(EduSys) : Had you not been selected then what would have been your future plan?
Shena : I never thought in that way.
Mohit : I was confident about my selection.

Q. ETG(EduSys) : The pattern for CBSE PMT Mains was not clear. Then how did you prepare for it.
Shena : I revised the complete syllabus once again by laying more stress on conceptual theory rather than solving problems. I read NCERT book thoroughly for Biology preparation.

Q. ETG(EduSys) : How have ETG products helped you in your preparation?
Shena : Your products (Magazines / Books / Correspondence Course / Test Series) can benefit all PMT aspirants by providing a good study material and a good collection of MCQ’s. Exams Today is a nice magazine with good MCQ’s.
Mohit : Exams Today is good magazine. It handle topics well. Your Test Series is excellent and helped me a lot. I am thankful to ETG(EduSys) for successfully predicting my rank in CBSE PMT solve and send. On my teachers suggestion I bought AIIMS Explorer and CBSE PMT Mains Explorer [authored by Dr. Sandeep Ahlawat (EduSys)]. They contain genuine questions and helped me in practising MCQ’s.
